The Chulbul Pandey of Bollywood, Salman Khan turns 45 today. He has once again proved that he can carry a movie on his shoulders with the success of 'Dabangg.' Going by the numbers too, Dabangg is way ahead of the KJo's Shah Rukh Khan – Kajol starrer 'My Name is Khan'. Dabangg has even beat the record set by 'Ghajini' and '3 Idiots' to a certain extent, pushing this Pocket Hercules ahead of the other Khans. (SME)
Salman also seemed to have learnt the art of promoting his films well as he went ahead on every available platform on television to ensure that people came to watch his film. That coupled with Malaika swaying to 'Munni Badnam Hui, made the movie popular even before it hit the theatres.
The way he lived the character of Robinhood Pandey in the film is good enough to win him a Filmfare award - unless the organizers want to award it to Shah Rukh Khan for 'My Name is Khan' or Hrithik Roshan for 'Guzaarish'.
The whooping Rs. 212 crore the film made from the box office and the stupendous response the film received after being premiered on a satellite channel clearly shows the increased popularity of Salman Khan. More so after he has been more accessible both the public and to the media.
Salman Khan's biggest professional mistake this year was the film 'Veer' which he also scripted for Anil Sharma. The film which had Zarine Khan in lead met its 'veergati' at the box office.
Veer and Dabangg are not the only movies which saw Salman. His guest appearance in Ranbir - Katrina starrer Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Khani to an extent saw the box office ticking. He did a guest role in 'Isi Life Mein' and 'Tees Maar Khan'.
Salman Khan also had a fabulous year on television as the host of 'Bigg Boss' where he edged out Amitabh Bachchan's 'KBC-4' in some of the TRP ratings as well.
Barring the one odd incident towards the end of the year where he abused and slapped a fan for kissing him at Anil Kapoor's birthday party, his image this year has been very positive.
The only place where Salman now needs help is about getting a girl to marry as soon as possible. And we feel it should be someone who can bring the much wanted stability in his life. In case, you guys have forgotten, he has now broken up with Katrina Kaif and announced the same as well.
With Salman turning 45 this year like the two elder Khans – Aamir turned 45 in March and SRK turned 45 last month – one wonders when he will pop the question 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi?' to one of his female co stars!
